Poem: Fantasy World

We fantasize what we would love to see in our lives and what we can’t live. Today's poem is my fantasy of the ideal world of equality.
I am using the word 'fantasy', can't use the word expectations, unfortunately.

The gender bias is so ingrained in our lives that we are unable to understand that we reject basic human rights to women because we cannot imagine an independent woman. Emotionally independent women (still) aren’t accepted by the society. A woman can be 'appreciated' if a controlling man is behind her; this is how our society perceives educated women, their work, and their character.

What pains me most is all our talks about respecting women are just vague words that don't have any meaning in the reality. Respecting women shouldn’t be in words only, it should reflect in our behavior. The sad state of our education, based on some numbers, doesn’t teach us a very basic quality every human must possess - empathy. Our society still does not understand that woman is also a human.

My dreamland
Where there is a respect for the intellect.

My dreamland
Where there is no place for sexism.

My dreamland
Where mutual respect exists.

My dreamland
Where every woman receives the respect she deserves.

My dreamland
Where a woman doesn't have to give explanations to everyone, she meets.

My dreamland
Where a woman isn't harassed for being an intellectual and independent.

My dreamland
Where daughters are loved.

My dreamland
Where a daughter isn't scrutinized.

My dreamland
Where a daughter isn't suspected of wrongdoings just because she is a freeminded woman.

My dreamland
Where society supports a woman
Instead of gossiping about her character.

My dreamland
Where women do not allow others to insult their dignity.

My dreamland
Where women understand the need for gender parity
And their rights to work independently without feeling guilty.

My dreamland
Where males know that
Women aren't created for their pleasure of controlling women.

My dreamland
Where women are respected sincerely
Not by the pretentious words.

My dreamland
Where the genius of a woman isn't judged by her physique and complexion.

My dreamland
Where women can have all the physical, emotional and social freedom to live their lives as a human.
